St. Mary’s Cathedral Church is one of the attractions of Madurai.
This parish is more than 150 years old. The parish is full of traditional Catholics and some settled Catholics. The parish comprises of fifteen sub stations and 1600 Catholic Families.
Its architecture, featuring two tall bell spires, blending European and Continental styles. The cathedral is located on East Veli Street in Madurai.
The land was donated by King Thirumalai Naik to Jesuit Priests for the construction of St. Mary’s church.
