Madurai which is known as “Athens of the east” is located at southern part of Tamilnadu.

The meaning of city Madurai-is fort or walls. The city was surrounded by walls that protected the city from the Aliens. The city was ruled by Pandya kings and Nayakar kingdom. it is also known as “Temple City”. (Plethora of temples)
