Bhagavan Shri Ramana Maharishi born in Tiruchuzhi on 30th Dec 1879. lived in this house and had his schoolings in the high school during 1892-96.
In july 1896, while sitting in the upstairs from of this house, he experienced an unmistakable fear of death. In a flash, he realized that death was only for the body, and that he, as the true being, had no death. He is now a fully enlightened sage.
B. left Madurai on 29th Aug 1896 and reached Thiruvannamalai on 1st Sep. He lived there until 14-Apr-1950, renouncing all worldly pleasures. His grace is pervaded everywhere in the ashram here.
